Bisby’s Promise began on a morning that didn’t feel like anything should be normal.
A long-time client called Suzie, owner of SoftPaws Pet Spa, to say her home had burned down the day before. In the middle of everything she had lost, her voice carried both relief and heartbreak—her husband and two dogs had made it out, but her two cats had not.
Suzie was on her way to her first mobile appointment but immediately re-routed. She was at their hotel within fifteen minutes.
When Suzie got there, the smell of smoke was overwhelming even after 18 hours. It clung to the dogs’ coats, their skin, the air around them. They were safe—but they weren’t okay yet. They were uncomfortable, shaken, and still carrying the aftermath of something they didn’t understand.
So Suzie did what she knows how to do. She bathed them.
Not because they needed grooming, but because they needed relief. As the soot and smoke washed away, you could see it—the shift. They settled. They softened. They started to feel like themselves again. And standing there, it became clear: in the aftermath of a fire, there is help for so many things—but almost nothing for this moment. The quiet, immediate need to care for the pets who made it out.
Bisby’s Promise was created to fill that gap.
Named after one of the dogs from that day, it exists to provide immediate grooming and comfort for pets affected by house fires—because when everything else is overwhelming, they deserve to feel safe, clean, and cared for again.
Restoring comfort, one pet at a time. 🐾
